HOLDS ITS 40TH ANNUAL WINTER BENCH & BAR CONFERENCE

Over 200 members of the bench and bar attended the Federal Bar Council’s 40th Annual Winter Bench & Bar Conference at the Four Seasons Resort, Nevis, West Indies, from Sunday, January 27, to Sunday, February 3, 2008.

On Thursday, October 4, 2007, the Federal Bar Council issued a statement in support of the Federal Judicial Salary Restoration Bill of 2007 (S. 1638), noting, among other things, that Judicial salaries effectively have decreased over 40% since 1969. The Federal Bar Council supports Senate Bill 1638, which abandons the practice of linking judicial compensation to that legislators, thus freeing judicial compensation from political considerations and ensuring the independence of this branch of government.
