Inn of Court Membership

  1.
  2. Open Enrollment for Inn Of Court
    April 15, 2024 – May 15, 2024
  3.

The Federal Bar Council American Inn of Court accepts membership applications every spring. The application window is open from April 15 – May 15 for the following Inn year. Those interested in membership in the FBC American Inn of Court are urged to contact the Inn’s Membership Chairs, Christos Papapetrou (cpapapetrou@bakerlaw.com) and Melissa Yang (myang@melissayangpllc.com).

Applications should include a copy of your resume and a brief statement of interest in membership in our Inn. Letters of recommendation are encouraged but not required.

Those selected to join the Inn will be notified during the summer. Membership dues paid (see below) by Inn of Court members reflect the fact that Inn of Court members also enjoy membership in the national American Inns of Court and the Federal Bar Council. Our Inn meets monthly from September – June.

Our Inn of Court membership is divided among 8 teams consisting of 12-15 members. Each team is led by a federal judge (Team Leader) and a Team Manager who is usually someone who has been in the Inn for a few years. The teams take turns developing and presenting a 1-hour CLE program each month from October through May. The Inn CLE programs are usually held on Tuesday evenings at either the Daniel Patrick Moynihan U.S. Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in Manhattan or the Theodore Roosevelt U.S. Courthouse at 225 Cadman Plaza East in Brooklyn.

Prior to each Inn meeting, a 45-minute reception is held before the start of each team presentation. All Inn members are strongly encouraged to arrive in time for the reception. The year starts with an annual “Kick Off” Meeting in September and ends in June with a reception and dinner to celebrate the members’ accomplishments for that year.

The full commitment of every team member is essential to the success of the Inn. For that reason, regular attendance at the monthly Inn meetings is considered one of the most important duties of Inn members. Inn members are expected to attend at least 7 of the 10 Inn meetings held each year.
