CLE PROGRAMS

FEDERAL RULES CHALLENGE

Jeopardy-style quiz game on the Federal Rules.

MAKING MUSIC: Copyright & AI

The collision of copyright law, music, and generative AI has sparked significant controversy, including high-profile lawsuits and nearly 10,000 submissions to the Copyright Office. This program will explore the legal and policy challenges of applying copyright law to AI-generated music.

FEDERAL WHITE COLLAR ENFORCEMENT LANDSCAPE

This program will explore the current state of federal white collar enforcement, including enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the False Claims Act, and the federal securities laws, with a focus on changes that business and legal professionals have seen in 2025 and what they expect to see into 2026. The panel will also discuss the states’ regulatory responses to changes in the federal scheme.

INN OF COURT - SPACE LAW: THE FINAL FRONTIER

What better place to learn about Space Law than to go to the Courtroom of the Honorable Benjamin Sisko of the District Court of the Milky Way Galaxy. We will review the origins of space law, which date back to the late 1950s and the Soviet Union’s launch of Sputnik, as well as the United Nations’s initial attempts to develop a legal framework for law in space.

THE HISTORY & CURRENT APPLICATION OF PRESIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE ORDERS

This program is focused on the history and current application of Presidential Executive Orders. It will address the current administration’s use of EOs and agency initiatives directed at diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in federal and local governments, as well as the private sector. The discussion will also address the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services and other pending litigation in a point/counterpoint style (plaintiff/defense) balanced legal discussion.

SPEAK NOW OR HOLD YOUR PEACE? NAVIGATING THE SPOUSAL PRIVILEGES IN CLIENT COMMUNICATIONS

The Spousal Communication Privilege and the Spousal Testimonial Privilege are two widely recognized evidentiary privileges under federal and state law, but the details of how these privileges apply are not as well understood among practitioners as the more frequently encountered attorney-client communication privilege, common interest privilege, or work product doctrine. This program will address the most common features of the spousal privileges, the most common exceptions to their application, and how these privileges vary in different jurisdictions, with an emphasis on informing how lawyers communicate with their clients—and their spouses.
